IGsty is a free website that saves public Instagram reels, photos and stories when you paste a post's link, with no login. The original is igsty.com, running since September 2024, but six more sites now use the name. On 18 October 2026, igsty.com, igsty.net and igsty.download saved 11 of our 12 test reels; igsty.org and igsty.net.in saved none.
Avoid two of the copies in particular: igsty.net.in hands out someone else's app from Dropbox, and igsty.co.in is a page of betting-app links.
What is IGsty?
IGsty is a downloader for Instagram. It is a website, not an app, and it has nothing to do with Instagram itself. You copy a post's link in Instagram, paste it into the box on the site and press Download; the site's server fetches the video or photo and hands you a file. Only public accounts work, and every IGsty downloader says so on its page.
Most of its users are in India, which accounts for 82% of its searches in Ahrefs' data, and Google Trends shows steady interest all year, which tells you real people are searching. The sites are paid for by ads, and on some of them the ads sit where you would expect buttons.
Which IGsty site is the real one?
igsty.com. It is the original and by far the busiest: its domain was registered on 11 September 2024, and Ahrefs estimates it gets about 180,000 visits a month from Google in India, six times more than the next one. None of the IGsty sites is connected to Instagram.
Four igsty sites appear on Google's first page for the name, and looking it up on about twenty other domain endings turned up three more. All six copies were registered within the past year:
Site | Registered | What it is |
|---|---|---|
igsty.com | 11 Sep 2024 | The original downloader. Its files come from TikTokio's download server. Google ads, including a "Discover more" list above the download box. |
igsty.net | 11 Dec 2025 | A downloader built on a WordPress plugin, with a Chrome extension called IGsty (21 users). Google ads, and once a full-screen ad after we pressed Download. |
igsty.net.in | 12 Mar 2026 | A downloader that sends your link to a paid API on RapidAPI, and offers an "app" from Dropbox. Google ads. |
igsty.co.in | 14 Apr 2026 | No download box at all: a how-to page whose text is stuffed with 35 links, 25 of them to betting and casino apps. |
igsty.org | 15 Jul 2026 | A downloader with Monetag ad code. Its Download button failed on every try. |
igsty.download | 2 Aug 2026 | The same plugin and Chrome extension as igsty.net. No ads in our tests. |
igsty.xyz | 2 Aug 2026 | No website. Registered on the same day, through the same registrar, as igsty.download. |
igsty.com, igsty.net and igsty.net.in each carry a different Google AdSense account number, so different people earn from the name. igsty.net and igsty.download run the same download plugin and link to the same Chrome extension, which says it downloads "using Igsty.net". igsty.com's files come from the server of TikTokio, which igsty.com calls "our TikTok downloader".
igsty.co.in has no download box. Its how-to guide tells you to "open the igsty com website", then turns into sentences in which nearly every other phrase is a link:
igsty.co.in on October 18, 2026: its "how to use IGsty" text, where each blue phrase is a link, most of them to betting apps.
Of its 35 links to other sites, 25 go to betting and casino-game apps, most of them on Pakistani .pk domains, and the rest to modded Instagram apps, piracy streaming sites and igsty.download. None carries the "sponsored" or "nofollow" label that Google asks for on paid links. So if a reel or a friend said "igsty com", they meant igsty.com.
Does IGsty still work?
Three of the sites do, and they all hand you the same file. On 18 October 2026 we gave each of the five sites that have a download box the same four public reels, from @instagram, @natgeo, @nasa and @bbcnews, sending exactly what its own Download button sends.
Site | Reels saved | Speed | What went wrong |
|---|---|---|---|
igsty.com | 3 of 4 | Answer in under 2 seconds, file in 4 to 10 | Never found the @instagram reel: "Search result not found", in every try that day |
igsty.net | 4 of 4 | Answer in 2 to 3 seconds, file in 3 to 5 | Nothing that afternoon, but earlier one 3.8 MB file took 18 minutes |
igsty.download | 4 of 4 | Answer in about 2 seconds, file in 3 to 6 | Nothing |
igsty.org | 0 of 4 | No file | "Something went wrong. Please try again." The site rejected its own security token (HTTP 403) every time |
igsty.net.in | 0 of 3 | No file | "API Error: HTTP 502". The paid service behind it said "The API is unreachable" |
Whichever site worked, the file was identical, byte for byte: for each reel, igsty.com, igsty.net and igsty.download returned the same 720p MP4. None of them improves the video; each passes on the copy Instagram already serves.
How do you use IGsty safely?
Use igsty.com, the original, and keep to these steps:
In Instagram, open the reel, tap the paper-plane share icon and tap Copy link.
Open igsty.com and scroll past the "Discover more" list to the box that says "Insert a link here...". Paste the link and tap Download.
In the result, tap the first button, the one that shows the video size. "Download Audio" saves only the sound.
The MP4 lands in your phone's Downloads folder. On an iPhone, Safari puts it in the Files app; open it there, tap Share and choose Save Video to move it to Photos.
igsty.com on October 18, 2026: the "Discover more" list above the download box is a Google ad unit, not part of IGsty.
That list is drawn by Google's ad code, in an ad slot that carries igsty.com's AdSense number, and its entries change from visit to visit. When we tapped "Get Photo Storage", nothing downloaded: a sheet slid up with an install advert for the WEBTOON app and an article marked "Generated by Gemini".
igsty.com's result for a public NASA reel on October 18, 2026: the first button saves the video, the second only its sound.
If igsty.com says "Search result not found", igsty.net or igsty.download may still find the reel: in our test both fetched the @instagram reel that igsty.com could not. Instagram's own Download button, described below, is the better fallback.
Never type your Instagram password into a downloader: none of the IGsty sites asks for it, and one that does is after your account. The good news is that none of the five downloaders opened a new tab or sent us elsewhere in 30 complete tries with their ads on, including igsty.org, which loads the ad code of Monetag, a network whose formats include pop-unders. igsty.com and igsty.net each showed one full-screen Google ad after a tap, with a Close button.
What is the "IGsty app"?
There is no IGsty app on Google Play. igsty.net.in's "Install now" button downloads a 160 MB file, download_helper_2.9.9.apk, from a Dropbox link.
igsty.net.in on October 18, 2026: "Install now" downloads an APK from Dropbox. The blue "Get Mobile Apps" chip is added by a script after the page loads.
We downloaded the file into an empty folder and read its manifest without installing it. It is not an IGsty app: inside is Savefrom Helper 2.9.9, the Android app of the SaveFrom.net download service (package com.example.savefromNew). RuStore lists the same package under the developer Savefrom™ at version 3.1.66, so this is an old copy passed off as the site's own, and Google Play has no app with that package name.
It asks for access to all files on the phone, permission to install other apps, permission to start when the phone boots, and the advertising ID. An app from a stranger's Dropbox is what Google Play Protect exists to catch, so don't install it. We found the same trick with a fake "TeckJB app".
Is IGsty really free, fast and HD?
Every IGsty downloader advertises the same features: free, fast and easy, high quality, no watermark, no login required, works on any device. igsty.net and igsty.download both call themselves "The Best Online Instagram Downloader". Here is how the claims held up:
Claim | What we found |
|---|---|
Free | True. No site asked for money, an account or an email address. |
Fast | Usually. The three that worked answered in 1 to 3 seconds and delivered the file within 10 seconds that afternoon; earlier, igsty.net needed 18 minutes for one file. |
HD quality | Mostly 720 × 1280: HD, but below the 1080 × 1920 that Instagram uses for reels. Twice, igsty.com's button promised "1080x1920p" or "1074x1908p" and delivered the same 720p file, byte for byte, as on other tries. |
No watermark | True. No IGsty mark, and no Instagram credit either. |
No login required | True on every site. |
Works on any device | Yes, they are websites. On an iPhone the file lands in the Files app. |
Is it legal to download Instagram reels with IGsty?
Instagram's Terms of Use forbid "accessing or collecting information in an automated way without our express permission", logged in or not. That is what a downloader's server does, so Instagram can block these sites at any time, which is one reason they keep breaking.
For you, what matters is what you do with the file. A reel belongs to the person who made it, and keeping one to watch offline is not the same as posting it as your own. Instagram says downloaded reels "aren't allowed to be used for commercial purposes", and even igsty.com's disclaimer says its tool "is designed to help you download content from your own account".
How to download Instagram reels without IGsty
Instagram has its own Download button for reels, and for most public reels it does the same job:
Open the reel in the Instagram app on your phone.
Tap the paper-plane share icon at the bottom right.
Tap Download. The video goes to your phone's gallery.
Instagram's help page Who can download your Instagram reels sets the limits. It works for public accounts whose owner has not switched downloads off; for public accounts of people under 18 it is off unless they turn it on; and it is not available on computers. Downloaded reels "include an Instagram watermark, your username and audio attribution", so the creator keeps the credit. If Download is missing, downloads are off for that reel: tap Save to keep it in your Saved folder, or ask the creator.
Why is IGsty not working?
Message | Site | What it means |
|---|---|---|
"Search result not found" | igsty.com | Its server could not get that reel: the account is private, the reel was deleted, or Instagram refused the request |
"Unable to fetch media. Please try again." | igsty.net, igsty.download | The same, from the plugin both sites use |
"Something went wrong. Please try again." | igsty.org | The site rejected its own security token; on 18 October it failed for every reel |
"API Error: HTTP 502" | igsty.net.in | The paid service behind the site did not answer |
A reel from a private account will never work on any of them; a site that claims otherwise wants your login. If a public reel fails, try again later or use Instagram's own Download button.
How we checked
All tests ran on 18 October 2026 with four public reels. We used each site in a clean browser profile emulating an Android phone set to India, recording its answers, every request to other companies' servers and every new tab. Heavy ad scripts kept freezing that automated browser, so we also timed each site by sending exactly what its Download button sends, from a script, with three minutes allowed per file. igsty.net.in was tested in the browser only, because its page calls a paid service with the site's own key.
Files were compared byte for byte and measured from their headers. Domain dates are from RDAP records and the crt.sh certificate log. The APK was read with an open-source manifest parser and never installed. Search figures are from Ahrefs' India database and Google Trends. Screenshots are unedited crops of the live pages. We did not log in to Instagram, test stories, or contact the sites.
Frequently asked questions
Is igsty.com the official IGsty?
It is the original, registered in September 2024, and it gets most of the traffic. The six other igsty sites were registered between December 2025 and August 2026. None of them is connected to Instagram.
Is IGsty safe to use?
igsty.com is low risk if you only paste a link and tap the real Download button. Skip the "Discover more" lists, which are ads, never enter your Instagram password, and don't install the "Igsty app" from igsty.net.in.
Is there an IGsty app?
No. The file igsty.net.in offers is an old copy of Savefrom Helper, another company's downloader, on Dropbox. It is not on Google Play.
Can IGsty download private Instagram videos?
No. Every IGsty downloader says it works only with public accounts, and Instagram's own download is not available for private accounts either.
Can IGsty download Instagram stories?
The sites offer it for public accounts, and igsty.com has a separate story page. Our tests covered reels only. Instagram's built-in story saving is for your own stories.
What quality does IGsty download in?
720 × 1280 pixels with sound, the same file Instagram serves. The 1080p labels igsty.com sometimes shows did not match the file it delivered.
